TONI: Dwight, have you ever shared… publicly, that you’ve had specific dietary choices?
DY: No, I mean I don’t really usually. I think fans know, that I… (Laugh)… to use your term, ‘Kerekted’ something in my 20’s that I thought maybe would be a problem for me personally later. Like eating refined sugar. I stopped. I stopped eating red meat… there was no moral issue or anything like that, I just thought… I think I feel better without it. I also know that some people need that kind of protein. You can eat meats healthily, I think. The world is not here to be, shunned or, put off limits to. But, my personal choice was, to stop that refined sugar.
TONI: What age were you when you stopped?
DY: 25, I guess when I quit.
TONI: When you were growing up, from young kid to 25, what did you eat at your family dinner table? What was the normal fare?
DY: It was the late 50’s … I was born in 1956. Amazingly, my mother was very, aware, in a day and age where awareness wasn’t that prevalent about ingredients. I don’t know when the FDA started making ingredients put on everything, but she would read…. I remember we were not allowed to eat cereal that had large amounts of sugar in it. ALTHOUGH we ate a lot of oatmeal and we ate a lot of cream of wheat for breakfast. It was almost like grits. I also know It was the 60’s...
